520-15 Pipe Sealant

Pipe sealant type S213-15 is a solid, plastic extruded caulking compound based on butyl rubber. It is particularly suitable for sealing flush jointed concrete pipes in wet, adverse conditions. Maximum seal is achieved under compression, after which movement of up to 5% of joint width can be tolerated without joint failure.

The sealant offers several cost saving benefits in both labour and machinery:

• Faster pipe installations. Eliminates internal mortared joints and external bandage joints.
• Allows for deflection of pipe sections with soil movement. Controls joint cracking.
• Trenches can be backfilled as soon as pipe installation is completed.
• Pumps and well pointing equipment can be worked more efficiently, resulting in faster plant and equipment turn
